Dynamic Pistol Matches
Dynamic Pistol matches are designed to give both new and experienced shooters a safe, structured, and exciting environment to improve their skills. The match format encourages maximum participation at all levels and focuses on practical, real-world shooting challenges.

Unlike some disciplines, you won’t face restrictions on concealment, ammunition, or magazine use. Tactical reloads and dropped magazines are allowed without penalty—and clean runs even earn a -5 second bonus on your stage score. The standard firearms safety rules apply and are outlined in the general rules posted on the club website.

Who Can Participate?
Any RPAL holder with a centrefire pistol, revolver, or pistol calibre carbine (PCC, including rimfire) is welcome. There are no club or association memberships required. Match fees are $15.00, payable through Practiscore upon registration.

Match Schedule
Matches are conducted at Chilliwack Fish & Game Protective Association (CFGPA) once a month from March through November. They are posted well in advance on Practiscore. Once registered, participants receive an email the Wednesday before each match with the minimum round count and any special instructions.

Dynamic Pistol Brief – Sep 25

Welcome to our first Dynamic Pistol match!

The process, including scoring, will generally follow IDPA guidelines, with the following key changes:

  • Dropping magazines with ammo is no longer penalized, but you will be DQ’d if you sweep yourself retrieving a dropped mag.

  • Head shots include the entire head box inside the perforated line.

  • Loading to division capacity is optional, not required.

  • A 5-second bonus is awarded for a clean run.

  • A 1-second bonus is awarded for doubles.

If you are a non-member of the range, you must leave the premises after the match. Insurance liability does not permit non-members to use the facilities once the event is complete.

Safety

  • Trauma kits are available on each bay.

  • In the event of an emergency, a first aider will respond, all participants must make firearms safe and secure, and remain on site. No photos or calls during the incident.

Cooper’s Four Rules of Gun Safety

  1. Treat every gun as if it is loaded.

  2. Never point your muzzle at anything you are not willing to destroy.

  3. Keep your finger off the trigger until you are on target and ready to fire.

  4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.

Participation

Everyone is expected to assist with taping and resetting stages, except those who have just shot or are on deck.

  • Police up shotgun husks during shooting.

  • Collect shotgun wadding at match completion and dispose of it in the main garbage bin at the range entrance.

  • Collect excess pistol/PCC brass.

  • Broken wood goes into the brown recycle bin, not the bay garbage cans.

Stage Briefing

  • Wait until the RO has completed the stage brief before asking questions.

  • After the brief and walkthroughs, if you have questions, ask squad members—ROs and AROs are busy running the range once shooting starts.
